Zapata, Collette (Kelly)

Collette Zapata went to University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida, for accounting in 1977. There, she sidetracked and apprenticed as a watchmaker and jeweler. Married Luis Zapata in 1982 and raised their two children. In 2001, returned to school and received a laser electro-optical technician certificate. She immediately began working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, fabricating fusion targets for the National Ignition Facility (NIF). Currently, she is working on sputtering metals and indium bonding laser crystals for high power laser in the AXSIS project.
